Tree is the first balance we work on in most of our classes. It's a great way to strengthen our muscles and mind. Some muscles need to stay strong, others need to relax in order to create balance. Most of us need focus and dedication to master this asana (yoga pose).

In my mind tree is much more than mastering a pose. It is a celebration of Earth & Sky. Trees can not survive without direct nourishment from both the earth through the root system and sky through the leaves & processes of photosynthesis. Trees are true children of the sky and earth. Less obviously but just as surely so are we. Through this pose we can celebrate this connection.
